Default Filter box drain cap

Upon cleaning my bike yesterday I realized the filter box oil drain had lost its end cap. I suspect it got slashed when going over a quite big bump, with the frame underside touching slightly the ground. After that bump, I rode home for approximately 10mins, that was in sandy trail.

Should I be concerned that it could have suck some sand through the drain? Any advice is welcome. Bike was running fine as far as I can tell.

Also, if anybody has tips for a temporary cap, they are welcome. I want to go riding on Monday and the dealer is closed that day (holliday).

And before Deej falls on me, here is a pic of yesterday's ride. (Honestly, I am also testing putting images in a post).

I think most people plug it permanently with silicone. more so to prevent water from coming in thru this cap if its still there. just check for water in air box after you do any deep water crossings. You'll have to remove water with rag/sponge tho.

Thanks Klxrelic, will do like you suggest (plug it with silicone).

I realize the picture in my top post did not make it in the post body, there was a link instead. When previewing the post I could see it in the body... What's the trick to have it displayed inline with the text? Sorry if this is an old question. May be I should ask in the Stupid questions thread...
