Hey deej, there is a quick and easy answer and I've done it before.....tell your cc company what ya are doing and temporarily change your billing address to the oddball shipping address....then switch back to your real billing address after done.... works every time.

PS is it cold up there? I think ya need to come south and east.

I'm not sure I understand the excitement of all this. There are a lot of companies that have similar policys. As a matter of fact I have all of my goods shipped to my business purchased on credit cards that have my home billing address. I think the issue is that it was being sent to a general delivery address. My understanding is that if it is not verified, then it opens up liability issues with the shipper. ie. customer calls and says he never recieved the item and no one can dispute the claim.
Any way I don't see that Monkey Butt acted out of line. I have policies in my business that I am frequently asked to overlook. Unfortuneately the reason that I have implemented these policies are because somewhere back in time I have been burned. Sorry guys, burn me once, shame on you, burn me twice, shame on me.
Our choices are clear; we can understand and try to work within the parameters given to us or take our business to the next vendor. It easy and really not worth the increased blood pressure.

Same here and I agree totally. And I've been burned by trying to be a nice guy so I'm a lot more careful now. MBP's policy is not unreasonable and as a customer you can always choose another vendor that does not have that strict of a policy. Did you know that if you accept payment by Paypal and you ship anywhere but to the customer's "confirmed address", you have absolutely no recourse if the customer contests the charge? The payment is reversed and you are out of luck. Also, anyone can contest a credit card charge for up to 120 days after the purchase and unless you have documented proof that the item you shipped was delivered you will get a charge back from the CC company and be liable for the charges.

So if the policy doesn't work for you, just choose another retailer and move on. But cursing them out on the phone isn't going to solve much. And then to come on-line and leave that part out and make MBP look like they just hung up for no reason, that's pretty deceptive. I'm glad to hear the other side of the story, myself.

hmm, I thought about the same how did jeff find this forum? But in all honestly, if someone calls me to fix their hvac equipment (for example) and are cussing me out?? you can pretty much guess that I would be walking out, and say call a different company.Customer base or not, being civil is supposed to be in our realm. Negotiating is also in our realm. So some better communication here would have helped.

I hear that drag,I've picked up my tools and walked out of more than one place when getting yelled at and it has nothing to do with me.They usually shut the hell up when I tell them at 2am "I don't need you,you need me" and when they are afraid of the house freezing they smarten up quick. Ahhhhhhhhhh the joys of HVAC

It's really funny how this thread has turned...

The "Sales Manager", who has found our forum, (I didn't mention the forum to anyone at his store),and who has stated that I "used vulgar language".. and now some ofour members have made the assumption that I, in fact, did offend his sensibilities. Sorry to have to bring you up to speed on this one, but I didn't use foul language. Man speak? Yes!! Really a sensitive person who, dealing in the motorcycle business, has never heard another man express an opinion that conflicts with his stores policies. I was simply pleading with the store to sell me an inexpensive part& to ship it where I am currently! [&o]

FWIW, I am a retired 30 year former business owner, and have been a full time RVer for about 14 years now. That means that we have no fixed address. We use the U.S. Post Office to recieve our snail-mail (whenever we order it from our Mail Forwarding Service in Cincinnati, OH).

Recently I have bought a muffler and some other items from Big Gun, inCAand had them shipped to Death Valley NP in Furnace Creek, some mirrors from Dennis Kirk, also sent to Death Valley, some lights and an exhaust shield from Wheeling Cycle Supply, in WVirginia, but sent to Quartzsite, AZ, 4 Trakmaster II tires and Tuff Tubes from RockyMountain Motorcycle ATV, sent to Yuma,AZ, a Garmin 60CX GPS from Grants Pass, OR sent to Molalla, OR. All with no probelm what-so-ever. These items cost approximately $1,200.

That's a whole bunch more than $16.95 that MONKEYBUTT was about to sell/lose, (and I'm still the same guy with the same credit card &mailing instructions). Wasn't a problem for any of these other merchants and I think I can accurately determine when I am being dealt with in a less than courteous manner. Remember my having already admitted to having run my own 30 year business, and I hired lotsemployees to assist me with my customers?

Besides, it's really hard to curse someone out when they have already hung up you already!!
