My understanding of the q4 is that it does not provide the performance of the pc4. Am I wrong?

 

q4 and pc4 are not far off in performance. Not at all.

Where you see the largest increases is going from OEM exhaust to q4 (or really anything.. q4 is just the quietest of the high performance exhausts).

Most people that get the q4 absolutely love it.. some say it is still too loud and opt for the quiet tip. It will be fine for your application.

 

Kevin, I found this for you .. Its your bike with your PC4+stock header.. Obviously the first "test" without the spark arrester is silly, you'll always run the arrester in the woodz.. This is a really good indication of the PC4+stock pipe sound at idle as well as a tiny indication of the fact that it actually gets 'quieter' when above idle.. AND a sampling of what you can expect to hear with the quiet tip in..

 

The video is worthless without decibel readings. Powercore is a race pipe. You'll never experience how loud it is until it's arrived.. then you have a harder time swapping out later. Q4 is a high performance exhaust system just not as obnoxious as the PC.

 

A decibel reading is worthless unless carried out in the proper environment, with the proper technique, etc etc.. For instance, in the vid above, the environment causes erroneously increased levels due to the brick wall(s) in close proximity..

 

It is a fact that the Q4 is a slightly longer baffle'd silencer than the PC4..

 

Thx for both of your inputs. The PC4 that I ordered was from a local shop and the parts guy said it may be too loud when I called him back. His pricing on the Q4 was $200 more than the PC4, so I'll go online and purchase it elsewhere

 

Another question. Which is better, the Mega Bomb or Power Bomb? I may just order the full system while I'm at it

 

No one knows the answer to that question. They both are power adders, that much is known.. I spent the extra for the Megaboop because it is touted to add/maintain TRQ down low and extend this bigger TRQ curve to redline.. You get whichever one you want.. The powerbop can be fitted with the little FMF heat shield - the megabomb heat shield is an expensive carbon fiber unit..

ARL did a mod video that puts the stock heat shield on a megabomb..

 

MegaBomb reduces exhaust volume by 1-2db. It is also larger diameter than stock so it will flow more burnt gas and make the bike faster.

Powerbomb does not reduce exhaust volume. Same larger pipe diameter over stock.

Both increase performance. Megabomb does this while reducing loudness.
