Default Drift x170 camera..anyone use it?

Ok anyone using the x170 or the hd170? And any likes or dislikes of the 2. I like the price of the x170 over the hd one and I think for the price I can live with not having hd vids but does anyone have any vids taken off road with the x170?

Yeah, I have the X170 as I didn't think it was worth getting the HD170. It's a nice camera, but it really chomps thorugh batteries. The main complaint I have about it is that it seems to keep changing the white balance - changing it t ensure the sky is not over exposed but resulting in the darker ground you are riding on losing definition.

Here are a few unedited video's I took not so long ago for your to get a flavour: Index of /rides/20110305 Letter A

I still think it's a nice camera that I will get some decent usage out of.

Ya I was wondering about the battery thing. Are using lithium rechargeable's or lithium ion and throwing them away when dead? Either or what kind of record time you getting?

Also what are you using to view those vids? I can't seem to get them to play

I use VLC player (VideoLAN - Official page for VLC media player, the Open Source video framework!) to play them. Sometimes you get asked if you want to repair them, I usually say "Don't repair" and they play fine.

Battery life wise I was using Duracel Ultra's. Not sure exactly what life I got out of them I'm afraid, but it wasn't a whole ride. I have some Lithium Energisers which I plan on trying next. Can let you know how that goes once I run them out.
