Did you stop by the Terlingua Ranch? I heard it is back open again.

Yeah, actually it's always been "kind of" open. We just ride the main property areas and roads.

TNC:
Thanks for the post! Good stuff for those of us driving around in cages at 19F in the morning. If the opportunity arises, keep me posted for next years ride. The schedule appears to be opening up (long story) and a get-away will be in order. The others are planning a May Moab, but not yet sure that one will be doable.

Ocotillo, you say?

I took this pic about two miles from my house. This one's sharing space with a saguaro.

I have been fortunate to have ridden Big Bend a couple of times and loved it. How was Black Gap?

Black Gap and the other rough sections were probably in the best shape I've seen them in, and I can only attribute that to the lack of rain from the current drought. There's usually more rutting and wash caused by rain. It was packed down better in most places, and the gravelly sand places were better packed. I had a lot of fun at a little more speed this time. They told me that they only had about an inch of rain in the last 13 months.

Default Big Bend

I worked there for a winter back around 2006. I was a kayak instructor and you missed the most beautiful parts. The river canyons are specular

I've missed very little in Big Bend. Since about 1973 I've backpacked many nooks and crannies all over the park, run the river canyons in canoes, and done all the backroads many, many times. My new favorite place down there is the BB Ranch State Park. Talk about being even more remote than BBNP.
