Ride in Big Bend National Park
#2
Big Bend is a great getaway during the cold winter months. The place is somewhat of a surprise as to the amount of decent 2-track and dirt roads, and with the state park nearby that is opening up more off road tracks, it's only getting better. It's also a peaceful place with few people. Hard to find that anymore.

Yes it was great. We camped at Rio Grande Village. Rode River Road one day and them went for a ride down Hwy 170 the next. There was actually a dual sport rally going on that same weekend down there. But like you said it's so big you don't see anyone once you leave the camp ground.

Oh man!...I just noticed you said a "weekend trip". I usually spend 10 days in the area and ride my tail off. You just scratched the surface. Yeah, that annual "Uncle's Around the Bend" deal sounds like fun, but I like doing it with a smaller group. Uncle...actually Roger...is a really great guy. He even went riding with us one day and showed us some of his favorite places. It's surprising how much good riding is available just in the Terlingua/Study Butte area.
