Chain tensioner? Yeah I did, followed the procedure in the manual. What I mentioned above was actually before taking anything apart, just as it was stock, but with some wear. I went through the timing procedure before taking anything apart just to be sure I understood all the markings.

I did marcellinos cam mod, the slightly worn chain made this even trickier to get setup right. But I basicially set the crank just past TDC (the position where everything on the cam sprockets looked right when stock) and set everything up top from there.

well if it was streched, not sure what i just did by re timing the cams to right on ? nothing? or if it was correct the way it was then the cam timing is to advanced now that everything is TDC and the same time instead of the cams slightly behind?

to me it would make sence if all marks would line up exact when its set how it should be

now i just need to figure out why the bike runs choked, idles (kinda), but when you grab some throttle it wants to die unless you grab some more then it will rev up. ive been told to clean my pilot jet, because that handles part throttle, but its been removed and cleaned and blown out twice and it looks good..

also when we were messing with it and it was parked running on choke the exhaust by the head started glowing red! i shut it down and grabbed a big fan and pointed it at the engine and radiator, was wondering if its running lean and or the spark arrestor was clogged/smashed from over tighten. some guy at the local motorcycle parts place said its normal.. not sure about that

My bike's header has glowed red with choke on for a while, and also when we had to use the KLX to jump-charge a truck battery (holding a high idle for about 5 minutes). It was dark so easy to see the header glow. Normal from what I can tell.

Don't know what to tell you about the other though. Could one of the jets have buildup that hasn't been completely removed, or one of the passages still partly plugged?

think i figured it out,(why it wouldnt run quiet right) bike runs great now. bike is a 98' but came with a newer but for the same model bike carb, i belive its the "california" model carb from an 02 or 03' which is de-tuned for california green ******. same carb but the needle is different and you have to drill out the mixture screw cap to mess with it. couldnt get it to run quite right. got the old original carb back from the guy cleaned it and it runs great. funny thing is the carbs look the same and same jets. ****in california
