I tried to get the front sprocket off my 07 KLX by having my wife sit on the bike while in gear and I used a torque wrench-all we suceeded in doing was to have the bike tip over on her. After that happened twice I took it to a local shop that had an impact wrench. That worked. I'd like to find an impact wrench for $50, all the ones I've seen are $200 to $300 dollars at Sears,Home Depot, or Lowes. If anyone knows were to get a decentimpact wrench with enough power to get off a sprocket or rear axle nut please let me know(that is -for $50)

I bought an electric 1/2" impact wrench from Harbor Freight for $79.95. It works great and took the sprocket off instantaneously.

I have a catalog that I got from them and it's on sale at 50% off at $39.95!! I think if you go to the website, it's $79.95. It's worth every penny at $79.95, at $39.95, it's a steal. With the shipping, it should come out to about your target price.

The catalog is the Spring 2007 8033-B. Page 64, item #31877-7BEB. The phone # is 1-800-423-2567. Website is www.harborfreight.com

I have bought some stuff from them and the service is excellent.

Hey FM_Thumper and JB1,
Thanks to both of you for the quick response and good info. I've shopped Harbor Freight before and even have one close by, but I didn't think that an inexpensive impact wrench would do the job. Thanks for the info!

Hmmm thats weird, I did mine having the wife sit on the bike (she weighs 120) with it in first gear and stepping on the back brake. The nut came off pretty easy.
