Its not necessary to bring your bike in for the 600-1000 mile service. Read the manual, for the 2009..pretty straight forward. I do not worry about torques on things that are not rotating..just snug. Maybe replace the orings, etc after 5k or inspect as necessary. I also used a little bit of axel grease. I just went overall the frame and tightened all the bolts... save your money or donate it to me.

I say that the oil filter companies need to make the spring part of the oil filter, but that's just me. And that wouldn't be practical I guess... (rolling eyes)

My honda quad uses the same filter as the KLX, and I don't recall the quad having the same spring...but that may just be bad old-guy memory.

Default Jeez, that oil filter spring...

wth? On my first oil & filter change on my '12 with 112 mi., I ran into the spring situation. Finally called my son out to hold the bike on it's side to get the spring configured.

This kind of stuff in life just has a person scratching their head. Are there not engineer's that spend quadzillion of hours thinking this stuff out.

Thanks for the grease tip.
