Searched the FAQ and Google and couldn't come up with anything.

I have a 2006 (1st gen) with bad crankcase.
Can I just keep top end and replace bottom end with one from a 2nd gen (2008+ model)?

The parts numbers are different, but I thought I had read before of someone swapping out bottom ends without issue.

Yes, I used an 09 bottom end on my 07 top end.

Just know that the 09+ bottom end has shorter 6th gear. I did not like it as much as the 07 bottom end.. But it does work.

If I were you I'd search for the 06/07 bottom end, especially if you have the 351 kit or plan on getting it anytime soon.

So far haven't found any 1st gen bottom ends for sale.

I have found the crank cases, but have no idea if it's possible for me to rebuild the bottom end and move things over to new case without screwing things up.
