I was pretty anti-track master II for awhile (for road use). They were so bad on pavement that I removed them from the KLX and put them on my KDX. Long story short, my KDX went out of commission and due to financial restraints I put the TM II's back on the KLX.

Seems I was wrong about the TM II's. After they were good and broken in, they really settled down on the road. They'll never be a K270 on the street, but the K270 will never be a TM II on the trail. The TM II's get much better on the street when they are really broken in. But it takes some patience. You get used to the tire...

As for wear, the TM II's weren't as bad as the pirelli Scorpion XCMH. The best compromise tire I've found so far was the XCMH. But they didn't last long, and were a bit pricey. The TM II's are awsome off road, and the price is very reasonable ($60 delivered).

The D606's look like a nice tire, but a 120/90 is not something I'd like to put on a stock KLX. Once some mods are done that add a few horsies they yeah.

The 110/100 tire has been the sweet spot for me.

I like the 606 except it wines like crazy once it is worn to about 60 percent

 

I bought K270's, and really liked them... until it rained. Whenever it got slick, the front would wash on me so bad, I'd be down 2-3 times a ride. I had some serious trail riding to do, and a leftover Kenda Millville sticky front hanging on the wall from my mx bike, so I stuck it on.
It's been on there for about a year now, and is wearing fine. It's as good on the road as the K270 was, but the offroad traction is 1000 times better. I think you'll find that a lot of MX fronts are DOT. Wear has not been a problem at all, nor has street manners.
K270 on the back, and Millville sticky on the front.

 

Yeah K270's are great for not wearing out, but you will wear yourself out trying to keep the bike upright on anything but hard pack conditions. Dunlop 606 is and always will be my choice for the back tire.

 

How many kms are you getting out of the 606?

 

Will the 130/90-18 fit or is it too wide?

 

I get over 200 miles on a 606, but you have to remember I corner hard, and anytime you are cornering on a knobbie you are giving the center a break. Otherwise I bet 1500 would be about the norm.

 

The 130 fits, I have one on now. I probably will go back to a 120 next time. I didn't feel any traction gain and no power loss with the 130, it just costs more.
