Default Better Dual Sport Tires?

I plan to ride both street & trail but I feel the OEM tires are geared more to street than trail. Has anyone found a better comprimise or perhaps a streetable dirt tire? Maybe just more meat on the rear would help?

Tires for a dual sport is always a love and hate affair. You can go more off-road, but lose street use. I find the Kenda K270 to be a fair trade off for on and off road. But lack in the traction for loose and muddy terrain. Dunlop 606 would give more off-road traction.

Trakmaster II's are great off-road but leave something to be desired on the road. They ride ok, but they're loud as hell.

I will probably stick with them from now on though, they really hook up on the trail. I am really pleased.

I have Trackmaster II also, first set, I am curious to see how fast road riding eats them up, they are pretty knobbie.

I tried the rear kenda 760's, on the road it was all over the place, but nice in the dirt.
The Dunlop 606 is a lot more stable on the tight twisties.
I have a 760 on the front and a 606 on the back now.
The rear 760 wore out really fast, but the 606 is lasting pretty good so far.
I really like this combination, and I have a brand new set waiting in the garage.
I'm on the road more than I want to be, but I need the extra help/traction in the woods.

Thanks for the replies guys, I've also done some reading on the Pirelli M21 and the Maxxis 6006. As expected there is nothing that does everything but trying to find a happy medium is what I'm hoping for.....and the search continues.

D606 will be your best compromise.

I've been looking at these but coming from tubeless bikes to the 250S has me totally confused on what sized tubes I need. Can anyone educate me?

key word is compromise. TKII's suck on blacktop. they hook up well in the dirt but you will be lucky to get 1000 mile sout of them riding 50/50. D606's do dirt/road equally well and you can expect 2000 miles out of them.

edit: for the record i have run both. you can almost watch TKII's wear as you run down the road. currently running IRC's (non-DOT)
