sorry should have given more detail ...a300cc kit comprising of a new barrel, piston, rings and gaskets for the 250s available through any Kawasaki Dealer for $600.00 it converts the 250cc into a 300cc... gives heaps more grunt when combined with a aftermarket muffler...mild to wild.....can easily lift front wheel in 1st or 2nd gear and third with your sprocket mods to get over those logs. In regards to de-restricting the carby you can either fill the 2 small holes in the carby slide or order a new slide from the dealer to over come the power to weight ratio required to get LAMS certification in Qld as the KLX is restricted to reduce its power to meet the requirements for learner riders

Pogiboy - I've got 6 gears, she makes it easy with 14/51.

Rockabillslapmatt - I've never heard of DG till now. They been around for a while?/new brand. Sounds cheap, doesn't mean they are cheap.....
Old brand, make slip ons for atvs and mx bikes sounds good to me! 150 for a piece of metal and packing is still expensive in my opinion but i dont have the time to make my own

Hi GG, good to hear the 300 upgrade is worthwhile. I was quoted $650 for the kit from a dealer which is normal for Perth (eastern states price + 10%). Most carby's are derestricted by the dealers prior to delivery. The non-adr slide is around $200 so filling the holes is cheaper.

I'm from Perth. No stock header pipe. Bolted straight on, no dramas. Just use heaps of hi temp silicon between the slip-on & header pipe. They're a cheap slip-on meaning they are noisey even with the Power Tip. I made my own tip to reduce noise when riding around town. Could not hear the engine while riding, just the blast from the exhaust.
