Default decel popping thought

May some of that popping be reduced or eleiminated (for those who may end up with it) by blocking off the clean air system?
Would not introducing the means to help something further burn maybe kill that popping?
Just a while I'm driving thought not slide ruled.

I agree. It's just like an exhaust leak causes decel popping.

They still do some decel popping with the blockoff plate in place and the emissions plumbing all removed.

open exhaust + open intake + larger jets = decel pops...that was my conclusion....no leaks and still had machine gun firing on steep hills and canons on the streets....fmf bulbous megabomb got rid of my decel pop...

Blocking off my PAIR valve (clean air crap) reduced my decel popping by 50%.

Getting my AFR richened up to about 13.0 across the whole rev range completely eliminated all my popping!! I used to like the odd pop & bang but now I have non.....but she runs great.....oh well.

EDIT: Remember i am running EFi & is much more adjustable at low revs! Brieninsac is correct to point out that loosing all the popping with a carb, is usually going to be running to rich overall. A little bit of decel popping is unavoidable with a carb by the sounds of it.

I never noticed any difference after removing my smog crap. I could decrease the decel popping by opening up the mixture screw. But I was running too rich when I got completely rid of the decel. So I like a little popping.

I'm piped and jetted and have little to no popping on decel. My smog stuff is unmessed with.

not on a klx but on another bike I changed to a larger carb and had to enlarge the pilot jet one or two sizes, and instantly stopped 98% of popping on decel
and it was crazy before doing that popping so bad especially at 11pm trying to get it tuned

tried needle, and main but some reason pilot was too lean

I like the popping crackly noises...you guys gotta realize that these things have glasspack mufflers, and we all know how glasspacks love to pop

i experienced decel pop after moving up to the dj132...with the fmf q4, the decel pop wasn't bad....switching to a more open hmf exhaust resulted in the machine gun and canons...adjusted the a/f best i could...added the fmf megabomb and decel pop vanished...
