Hey Bake, not saying it would be for everyone, but you could ditch the battery and e-starter completely and go with the kick start. Not optimal, but given the choice, and if long distance between gas stops were a must, I would give up the e-start for a well integrated fuel cell and not have to strap bulky and unwieldy plastic containers precariously on the bike.

We are very impressed at how strong the mounting system is. The fit is very nice. Provided our test trips go well, this tank can be a production item.

That's great news, Bake! I'm definitely in the KEEP the batt and e-start group, so as long as one of your models can accomodate that I'll be happy.

No way I want to lose the electric leg and I only need a modest increase in range.

I you also can make the hardcore model (no batt or e-start), it would be interesting the see the mount and range. Not a worthwhile sacrifice for my purposes though.

Yeah, when I posted that I was thinking of hard-core usage, i.e., Trans-America Trail (TAT) type rides where there are some very remote sections with several hundred miles between viable gas stops. No cell service. You get stuck out there and it could literally be weeks before anyone would happen by to find you. I've read some reports where guys have bummed chainsaw mix from ranchers out on horseback in order to make it. Given that kind of scenario, e-start=luxury, fuel=necessity. Definitely wouldn't be my first choice, though. My battery died last fall and I rode several rides without it, and I've learned to never take the trusty e-start for granted.

Let's get this one up and running. I agree yet still more range is needed. Plans exist to move on that also.

Bake, as one of the youngsters always says at work, 'you are hot feet!'

Keep the updates coming.

Easy if you don't have a rear rack.

Tank 4 is designed to attach to a rack.
But I take your point.
No good if you want to use the rack.
