My B&B bashplate is the best mod I have on m y bike bar none. Excellent quality from Delacombe, Vic'.

My mistake, no, these things are for Bill's company, B and B Cycle Restorations.
Oh, and for clarity, I'm NOT one of the "B"'s in his company's name. I'm just his friend and riding partner that helps out on stuff like this.

It would be lovely to make those hydroformed aluminum skins for the tanks you show from France. I don't have access to a hydropress.

If the muffler is out of the way, and the rad overflow tank is gone then why not build one tank that saddles the bike over the rear fender, (about where a rear rack would normally sit) and tucks under the number plate on each side. The tank could be part of the supersructure to strengthen the subframe, or even be part of a rear rack. Just thinking outloud.

I remember seeing an over fender universal aux tank somewhere.
Sort of saddled the rear fender like a saddle bag.
But haven't seen that design around for awhile.

I have seen that as well and I am pretty sure that it is made by an australian company. It was black, and looked like a saddle bag. If I am not mistaken it was on an older KLX that some guy had built into a long distance desert bike.

It's not even a month since the proto pics were posted!! ROFL

Fix that GIF before it gives someone a seizure!

Yeah, those blow molded tanks are sexy, yes. We're trying to do something that we can fabricate. I'm also old school enough that crashing and landing on one of those plastic tanks gives me pause, although I know they don't break, I think aluminum will be just as good on crash damage.

The tanks will not be a fabrication problem. The issue is the mounting system. Moving the battery turned into replacing the battery so it could be moved. Looked far and wide, no luck, nothing smaller with enough cranking power. I thought there would be.
First brackets I don't think will work. Too much flex. Second set didn't fit. Third set of a completely different design made of heavier material proved to be a bastard to construct. We ruined some tooling and machinery trying, and so there's been some down time.
Just more development. And now it's riding season. We'll find a way I think. I'm going to be off work a month starting in Mid-June, and I can get more time into replacing tooling, and fixing the machine.

Here could be a solution to the battery size, this could maby mount in another location.. Behind the headlight maby.
I got a NiMh battery installed on my bike from Trailtech, it seems to work good, and is a lot lighter than the Leadacid battery

The first tank is mounted and is being ridden. Pics to follow.
Tanks 1 and 2 will be tested on the trails of Colorado the Memorial Day weekend.
Tank 2 and 3 will be tested in Colorado the week of June the 7th.

We are very impressed at how strong the mounting system is. The fit is very nice. Provided our test trips go well, this tank can be a production item.
