Auxilliary Fuel Tank
Looks great, Bake. Not necessarily something I'd want to keep on all the time, but for those times when I know fuel stops may be few and far between, that would be a real nice addition. Fuel capacity will always be an issue for someone. Like storage. No matter how much storage space you have, you will fill it up. No matter how much fuel capacity you have, there are times when you can always use more.
any idea of idea range yet? i would probally drain a gallon out of the acerbis before i would break into the back, the weights higher up and would put you at almost stock tank size.
I'm riding the 351 with the rejetted stock carb and modified pipe. My bike reliably returns 59 mpg doing average, dual-sport riding. 40% street, 10% highway, lots of dirt roads.
I use a Clarke tank on the 351. It is 2.7 I believe, plus the 1.13 of our tank will give me, let's see, "figuring"
My bike should have a range near 225 miles.

Thanks! It's been a lot of work to get this far, and I owe a lot of thanks to Bill. We also thought about the looks, making it shorter was about the only option there. It needs to clear the stock turnsignals, in case someone wants to keep them. It can't use up space on the luggage rack. I couldn't find anymore space, and job #1 is, it must be a full gallon or more.
We're very excited to start testing them this weekend.

I keep looking at the empty space in front of the engine... Not a great place to put fuel, but might be a nice re-location for the battery - free up space for more gas in your prototypes.
Bill reported in today, and said he can't even tell it's there while riding on the trails in Colorado. They are doing fine with both of them.
I want to be priced the same as the Clarke, but unofficially it looks like $225 is what they'll cost.
Also, I'll be riding next week with a friend that has an '09, and I'll see what the deal is on fitting our tank to it. We do use the luggage rack bolt; the '09 does not appear to have that bolt. We might need one different bracket. Or all new ones. We'll cross that when we get there. I can tell already, my plans to buy a '10 is going to be a reality, lol.

Bill's final report from Colorado came in. Both bikes rode over some rugged, rugged stuff on the single track today. Banged them around pretty good. No cracks, no leaks, everything is fine with the tanks.
Using his 33mm carb, and the 351cc engine, and running a Supertrapp pipe, one bike ran the tank dry at 69 miles and the other 71. Most of that was on winding highway, after filling up in town and heading back to the cabin.
He says they are a go, and the price is correct. $225
I'll get some pictures of the kit on the website early this week.
Thanks
