a16tony had something like this. His rear rack started to self destruct!

The rear carrier is not strong enough to handle the load.

If you have the Pelican 1200 you can get 2 of the 22 oz bottles in there along with extra gloves and tools. I also have the 32 oz bottle that I throw into my camel back. But you know with the exception of the Poker Run I went on this past summer, I have yet to need extra gas, but I suppose the first time I leave the bottles at home I'll need them. So I will continue to take them. I also read over on the thumperTalk site that if you have a big enough pack you can take along a couple of 2 litre pop bottles of gas, and then as soon as you can you get the gas run into the tank, and then bury the plastic bottles under a stump, of course I would never do that.
