I wish I could remember exactly what I did with the Hot Foot Moto guide and my old aluminum guide plates, but it's been quite some time. I combined the old guide plates and the composite guide unit in a way that moved the unit a little more forward and angled the guide block to accept the chain better from the lower angle. It's worked great with no issue or oddball wear. I kind of like using the old aluminum guide plates as they have also given some additional protection to my HFM guide.

Thad, how about some good pictures of it? Something about a thousand words. My aluminum guide went crunch on rocks.

I'll take a look at the chain guide business to see what I might need to do. I bought my '06 used with the 47 already installed, so if I had a problem with the guide I didn't know it.

I checked out the hot foot stuff too, but if I understood you correctly, you had to modify your rear guide anyway, even with the hot foot.
I threw a 48T on my almost a year ago, - before I knew it may not work out, but it went on and is being used without modifying the chain guide. I don't think a 49T or larger would clear tho..
