Mark,

Did you do anything special with the painting of the side panels? Any prep or just clean and spray? What paint did you go with? Are you satisfied with the luster?

It looks great in the pics, but as you say, it can look a little different in person?

Thanks,
Chris

They are UFO guards and sliders for a 96-03 KX 125. You just have to drill a new wholein the plastic guard where it bolts to the outside of the shock, no big deal, other then that they fit fine.

I scuffed the panels with a 600 grit sanding block, washed them after sanding, dried, and painted with severallight coats. Paint was nothing special, just a rattle can I picked up at the hardware store. I didn't want to put a lot of time into them because I figure they are going to get sctrathed up in the woods or when I lay the bike down, so this way I won't be as mad when that happens and it won't take as much work when I re-paint them.

Great, Mark. Thanks for the info. I think I will be doing that after the Tour de Apalachicola. I would do it before but the dance card is a little full with trip prep and the extensive "honey do" list that my wife has for me to complete in exchange for her cheerful support of my going.

Just to really show the difference, here is a picture of my bike shortly after I picked it up...

I see you cut your frame tubes off toward the back. I installed this fender back in October, and thought about cutting the frame down but I wasn't sure if it was going to stay or not. It's definitely a keeper, though. I wouldn't like going back to the stock fender, I just don't care much for it. I kept the stock blinkers, though and just moved them down and made a few l-brackets to support it all.

I think the muzzy looks better with the mx fender, the angle of the muzzy fits the "body lines" of the mx fender..... looks good guys... personally i like the fender with the angle in it...(stock)
