but they wont help if you hit trees..... thats why most get handguards..... mine has the aluminum bar in it so i can bash my bars off of trees.... which i have done alot.

The aluminum backed ones also stiffen your bars so they don't look like pretzels when you drop it offroad. I went down several times on the NE ride and the handguards are beat but the bars are still straight.

One drop and those handguards are toast. Nothing beats the curve back into the bar end strength.

I dont know about 09s but the Zetas I installed last night just flew on. Fit perfect, not trimming, bending, or grinding anything. They are bar mount not triple clamp mount too so its surprising.
