One of the stock throttle cables can be routed to work with the Mikuni's but a custom made 2" longer cable will make things a lot easier.

a bicycle brake cable works for a throttle cable. they come with 2 different type ends swaged to the cable & you cut one off for you application. one end will probably fit. the other you have to make. I've made ends from brass rod stock, but sometimes its nice to have stuff already to go. the good source is Flanders:
Flanders Cables for Mechanical Control, throttle cables, brake cables, automation control cables, custom robotic control cables
I use my soldering iron for small cables and propane torch for bigger ones. if you want to make a "solder pot" for dipping, get yourself a iron cap for iron plumbing pipe.

D Pippen website has good carb info and specifications for a longer throttle cable.

Carb Replacement newbie
Hi guys,
I have an '09 KLX250S. Would this https://mikunioz.com/shop/mikuni-vm-...v=13b249c5dfa9 be a suitable replacement, or is there one more specific that's an easy fix?

The flat slide w/accelerator pump, TM36-68 is commonly used. https://mikunioz.com/product-categor...v=13b249c5dfa9 It can be had with the right jets. For more information on it you can do a search here and also go to D Pippin's web site click here He has the base jetting for the carb too. I found the jetting also matched up to another rider's jetting too. Kind of verifies it a bit. I trust Doug's information, it hasn't failed me so far. I did the stock carb rejetting per his information and it was plug and play.
One I wondered about was using the TM36-4 without the pump. Using the VM and TM on off road two strokes and on the Yamaha 500s in the 70s-80s makes me curious if it would work.
