Mine is an 09, and after sitting for just over 3 weeks it was an itchy B to start. I had to pull the choke out to just before the lock point and crank away until she finally started to catch. THEN I could pull the choke out full and let her sit at high idle for a few seconds until she was able to idle on her own. Once that was done, it was easy as pie even after a few days sitting. I started off running regular 87, but have switched to 93 now. Dealer said it's recommended to run supreme but will run just fine on regular.

Ooops I have only put 87 octane in mine so far but have had no problem starting my 09 up, I just have to choke it for a minute or two when cold starting. I got about 350 miles on it, anyone else only running 87 octane?

mine starts with no issues during "every day" use ... but last time it sat up for a while (3 weeks) it was a real pain to get going again.

I figured in Florida, (damn hot here), and the fact the piston is 11:1, I would fill up on 91 octane. I noticed no difference...oh well. I did my first oil/oilfilter change yesterday at 85 miles. I saw a lot of shiney shimmery stuff in the oil, so I'm glad I changed it early. I will do another oil/oilfilter again at 500-600 miles. The oil filter spring in the engine was impossible until I spread the spring on the one side, and placed that on the engine side. It stayed there nicely, everything is good. I bought the Kawasaki 20w50 motorcycle oil from my dealership. The engine does take 5 quarts, just like a car right?
