Default 07 250s speedo not working right

dumped the bike for the first time today in some really tight trails. nothing hard more just lost my balance when i came to a dead stop and laid the bike on its right side. anyhow now my speedo isnt working right my rpms seem to be right on the money but when i was doing between 50-60 mph with my friends riding next to me my speedo was bouncing between like 30-40 and wont stay steady even though im holding steady throttle. any ideas on if i should replace the cable or the pickup at the hub or just finally suck it up and buy a vapor kit for it?

im kinda lost on this one so if anyone can offer some help thatd be great

Probably the cable. I've broken mine about seven times.

Crimping the cable sheath will cause similar results as you are experiencing.

sounds like the pick-up at the hub is busted.

There's friction at work somewhere. Probably at the hub or the display. May have put a slight bend in where it connects at either end - that would cause a wobble, and hence, a bouncing needle.
