Maybe on an 06-07, but the front won't work with the speedo drive on the 09. The electronic drive is different from that of the mechanical.

Ok. I have an 06. I just picked up the bike with a blown motor for 300 dollars. I am going to tear down the bike and see what the motor looks like if its not bad, then maybe I'll fix the bike, if not I am just going to use the parts, header, wheels, ect. then try to part off the other stuff.

I was wondering if the klx300 suspension components are an upgrade as well.

The 300's muffler is a rare thing theses days. Remove the end cap and add a tip and you have a nice performance upgrade over the 250's muffler. Also doesn't run a cat.

You can use the kick start parts, if you want, on the 250.

That's a good idea!

Pulled the engine apart tonight. It's shot. Crank shot, cylinder scored.

Consider checking into one of three things with the cylinder:
  • can you get it re-plated and have a 300 big bore for your bike?
  • Can you have it big bored by Bill Blue for a 331 or 351 for your bike?
  • Do you want to sell it to Bill Blue for his going price? That could give you around 1/2 your purchase price back, I believe.

But personally I'd consider what it would cost and the time involved to build it back up and sell it, is there a profit to be made. Cranks can be rebuilt and cylinders either plated or bored. Obviously it is around $500 to make the cylinder a big bore if necessary. A crank rebuild isn't horribly costly if a new rod kit can be had, and I think they can. If the engine can be done for under $700 you have a running new engine 300 for a grand.
