Well first of all, I jack up most of the threads I post on, so its only fair that mine gets jacked. I really don't mind the thread jack at all.
As far as the springs go, who cares? Seriously, I think that if I ever got the "proper" springs I would have to learn to ride all over again. And I've done pretty good so far. Maybe some day.

Note that even with "proper" springs, that's only 1/2 the equation. You still need to set the sag which doesn't cost anything, you just need to set the preload on the shock spring correctly to get the proper ride height. That ensures that you're riding the bike in the proper "geometry zone" which greatly affects handling.
