I Finished tranny rebuild mule 4010 4x4 ask for advice

So I'm done with my 2011 mule ,4010 4X4 , so ask any advice if needed. I have 2 problems though if anyone can chime in. . The tranny easily engages only in differential lock or 4wd. Seems it needs the extra torque somehow to engage. Why? Since I had to replace the driven clutch and rebuild the drive primary clutch, my belt deflection is now 34mm. Rpm power is sluggish. How critical is this deflection?? Is this why it doesn't engage right away?? Is my tuning off now? Secondly, the dfi light stays on but I don't get blink codes when grounding the kds wire that's LG/BK stripe. The manual says to put ignition on. I assume this means don't start the engine. Any ideas would help me immensely since this job was a freebie and favor for a dear friend. Thanks a million
