Default What's the preferred oil being used?

Hello All,
As a former KZ900 and GPZ1100 owner years ago, I recently jumped back into the sportbike arena with the purchase of a very well maintained 1991 ZX11. It has a Muzzy 4 into1 and a Dynojet kit. What is everyone using these days for oil? I always used Castrol GTX in my earlier bikes, but I figure ther's probably something newer and better by now. How about some of you giving me your opinion? I do tend to run my ZX pretty hard. I routinely hiy 140-145 mph and want to provide the best lube I can. Thanks so much. This forum is a great tool for information! Thanks to all who make it possible!

Ahh... The oil debate!

I personally use Castrol GTX 10W40 on both my bikes. If I were to buy a nicer motorcycle, I'd probably go with amsoil synthetic.

Just my two cents.

Castrol works for my 7 with no issues. Even during my breakin after rebuild. Works good.
Castrol again during my break in on the newer ride, then switched to Amsoil synthetic. It did improve my shifting on the newer ride.

Thanks for the input guys! I do appreciate it! I may try the Castrol Synthetic, I'm a little worried about the 3rd rod lube problem I've read about on many different forums. I just thought synthetic might save burning a rod when I'm thrashing on it. I've also read that keeping the oil slightly overfull helps also. { Of course, if I did burn a rod, I'd have an excuse to tear it down and rebuild it with all the goodies like I did on my 900!} Thanks all!

I use Castrol synth blend. Not the cheapest, but not the best, either. I always drive an old vehicle, so no use in running full synthetic.
