OIL CHANGE: SHOP OR DIY
I was just wondering, how many of you guys/girls do your own oil changes? I did my own this weekend and I have to say it was soooooooo easy. i went and bought about four quarts of RED LINE all sinthetic and an oil filter and BAM! nothing to it really, just a hassle getting all the plastic off but really easy to do.
so who goes shop and who does their own?

Well I just got my oil and filter and am planning on doing it sometime this week. I'll be sure to have someone taking pics as it will probably be pretty funny. But to be honest, it is about the same price to DIY as it is to take it to a shop here. Next time I'll probably have a shop change it, but who knows, I might really enjoy it
I think i saved myself about 35 bucks doing it myself. i really just wanted to try out some synthetic oil. runs Excellent by the way. i can totally feel the difference. maybe ill get better mileage too, im not sure. we'll see though.
I had the dealer do my first 2 changes. I have been doing my own since 5400 miles. I have 43k now.
Been using Mobil 1 15-50 full synthetic since 5400 miles. Shifts better, actually runs a little cooler. I do know is time to change
when the tranny get a little clunky. Ususally around 2500 miles.
Until recently I've had the stock exhaust and it's been kind of a PITA. I now have a Muzzy meg and will see how much easier it is to change in about 800 miles

ALWAYS ALWAYS do my own. When I changed my oil for the first time the "dealership" neglected to put the O rings in my filter. Can you say "ooooooouuuuuucccccchhhhhh" at 90mph. Thank God I didn't have to. [sm=badidea.gif][sm=boosign.gif][sm=icon_beat.gif]
DIY at my shop..
I put the bike up on the alinement lift and do it.. much easyer than doing it at my house, on the ground and having to take the old oil and put it in a container. At work we have a waist oil drain
