diy change out of rear spring
Im seeking tips/precautions regarding the disassembly of the rear suspension spring, I don't see any info other than shock removal for the procedure in my downloaded service manual.

When removing the shock from the frame I found it easiest to remove the whole linkage assembly rather than just the bolts holding the linkage rods and the shock onto the linkage.
Removing the spring is easy enough as you just unwind those preload adjusters until you can slide the clamping discs out and remove the spring. Putting a new spring on was a bit more of a challenge though as the spring needed to be compressed a bit in order to expose enough thread to get the preload adjuster started. What I ended up doing was threading a ratchet strap through the spring and compressing the spring enough. Once the preload adjuster is started you can remove the ratchet strap. The suspension shops have a proper hydraulic jack setup with appropriate collars that make it a lot easier.

Hello KLX comrades,my 2014 model has a fluid reservoir molded into the upper shock body above the preload adjuster rings makeing it impossible to remove the spring over the top.I expected to see a nut holding the bottom of the plunger to the spring retainer but I dont see it.Could it be the shock needs to be decompressed and dissasembled? Or will shock removal reveal a simpler method?

With the shock off, turn the preload adjusters all the way toward the top to where they come off the threads. The spring will be loose to allow you to disconnect the bottom 2-piece spring retainer. Spring slides off the body.
