okay so i get my oil changed the other day and decide to pay extra for the partial synthetic right.... (castrol GPS)... so i cruise for like 9 days and go to check the oil and see that the dumba$$ at the shop filled my bike to much with oil... i was wondering if there are some serious effects that can happen from this.... i think i already here the tapping of my lifter but i am not really sure.... i think it might be the placebo effect of jus knowing it had to much oil... since then i drained the overflow and now it seems my bike is getting hotter then normal... part of me wants to say i'm freakin out and another part says that i might have some problems... i have taken it back to the shop and told them what happened and they just act like it was a minor mistake, so i guess we shall see what happens.... anybody got ne thoughts on the subject or can give me some things i should be watching, listening, for??? thanks in advance

 

My first thought is no biggie if you caught it soon, which it seems you did. The placebo effect definitely applies, but someone who really knows their stuff might know better. The last time I changed my oil I overfilled it, (didn't know about the other drain plug), and it blew the escess out through the breather (I think) and filled up the holes in #2 and #3 cylinders where the plug wires go down.....never would have known any of it from the way the bike runs....like it always did....

 

That’s a typical stealership response, they will never admit fault and I go on for hours on this subject but I will spare you.

I am not try to be a *** here but this is a good lesson learned, you should do your on service bro. It is not that hard, get a service manual and some stands and your set. Also unless you have a lot of tools it gives you a good excuse to start buying some. The money you save from not paying the dealer you can invest on tools that you will need the rest of your life any way.

All so if you ever get in over your head you have places like this forum to ask for help.
