hole in tank

I have a small hole in my tank near the handlebars(dont ask) wondering what is a good and safe way to repair this and have it pass a safety(if possible) without having to replace the whole tank.thanks

You have a pic of it? Is it a rust hole? If not, just spot weld it.

not a rust hole, previous owner dropped it, somehow put a hole in the tank.
