Default Help newbie question

Hi. I just got a 93 ninja 600r from my buddy. He had it and it was running fine and all of a sudden it started leaking gas. He didnt want to mess with it so he gave it to me for free. Well I started looking at it and heres the problem. It starts up fine but after running for a minute it stalls out and starts leaking gas. I traced the source and found out where its at. The box that the air filter goes in where it hooks up to the carbs. When I took the intake ports off that go into the carb and started it I noticed that it was filling up with gas in there from a tube in the bottom. When it gets so full the bike stalls than the gas sorta goes down and it starts back up. The local libraries are out of books right now so Im kinda sol. I took the carbs out and cleaned them out with carb cleaner and its still doing it. Im not sure if this is the right place to post but I am lost right now. Thanks in advance Jay.

You need to take the carbs off and take them apart. Sounds to me like a sticking float.

Alrignt I found out what the problem was. I already cleaned out the carbs they were looking pretty crappy. It was a bad plug that was causing it. I put the bike back together but left the one wire off started right up and didnt do the flooding thing. I went out bought 4 new plugs and it runs pretty good now. I got the bike for free and so far have 40 bucks into it to get it going and its coming out nice. It still needs a new fearing bracket for the front because some of the plastic just wont line up right. If you guys have any links for some parts for this 93 600r let me know please! Thanks Jay.

Damn well its a week later and I have been riding the bike. Its great! I know its a older bike but being a 93 with 12000 miles on it its not that bad for a beginner bike. I am just waiting on the front fairing mount and it will be totaly good to go.

WAY TO GO!!!! Don't worry about it being an older bike - you are on two wheels just like the rest of us!

BTW - my bike is a 94 with 28,000 kms on it

You should make sure you have the right springs, forks and shock, for your weight. Also you should have them set the sag when you pick it up. That will get you to the neutral position on your suspension. I was amazed the difference in mine when I had it done.
Where are you getting the seals done at?
