Hey guys, looking for opinions on the best gear lube for shaft drive. Not really worried about cost as it's only one quart. SAE 80 GL-4 or better.

Redline? Amsoil? Mobil1? Others?

Looking for the best protection, not well-versed in shaft drive (yet).

If you mean the bevel gear at the axle end, I don't think it matters as long as it's an 80s or 90s grade gear oil. My XJ900 did over 120,000 miles with only one change of the oil, and none of my shaft drive bikes have ever given me any problem or shown any sign of wear.

Those gears are generally bullet proof.

Use Any of the synthetics, they are all good.

 

I like the mobil 1 75w90 gl5.
