Ive tried reading over some of the other posts about choke problems but i still have some problems.

I can get my bike to run with the choke on full, it will run as long as i want as long as the choke is on full. Ive have let it idle for one hour, but as soon as i take off the choke it dies. I was able to take the bike around the block with the choke on, the bike will only go up to about 30 mph and 6000 rpms.

I have drained all the gas and put fresh high octane gas in. I have also added sea foam to the gas to try to clean the carb. I have checked the gas lines and there is nothing blocking the lines. I have also checked the air filter.

Is there anything else i can do to fix this problem? The next step i was thinking about was taking the carb apart to clean it, but only wanted to do this as a last resort.

have u checked the jets to see if the gas is come out right not to much or to little

 

Has the bike been sitting over the winter? Usually in this case taking the carb apart and cleaning it properly is the first resort, not the last one. Good luck on the fix. Welcome to KF!

 

yeah, those small pin holes in the slow circuit will play hell with ya for sure. (they clog easily)

It set for a couple months. Will take the carb apart and clean it this weekend. thanks for the tips.

 

yep the pilot jet had some trash in it blocking the little holes. All clean out and runs great now. Thanks

 

Congrats on the fix. Nice job What was your float height after your cleaning?

 

I didn't do anything to the floats, just left them alone. That part was clean. Should they have been adjusted?

I also have another question. When is cool in the morning about 60 degrees the bike doesn't want to turn over even with the coke on. It takes about 5-10 tries for it to turn over and stay running. But in the afternoon when its about 100 even if the bike wasn't started that day it turns and runs fine first try. Did i miss something cleaning the carb, or is this a tuning issue, or just a warming up issue. Thanks

 

Depends on where you got your coke from on how fast it starts.

Some bikes are hard starters. But if you are comfortable in your choke/primary circuit cleaning, you may be just fine but see how things are burning and verify that all rubber components are in good condition. . Not sure, but take a peak at the plugs again too
