Default Bad gas problems

Ok so I have an '05 zx6r. It ran fine until the other day and I got some bad gas and it started sputtering and stalling. I took the tank off and completely drained the tank and lines. I put fresh gas in and it ran fine for about an hour. Now it runs for 15-20 mins and then starts sputtering and cutting out. I have to shut it off and then alternate the key on and off and let the fuel pump prime and then it will run fine for another 15-20 mins. A friend of mine says that there is probably still water or contaminates in my fuel filter and of fuel pump and that because of this the fueld pump cant maintain the proper psi across the fuel rail. So should I replace the fuel filter, fuel pump, or do I have other underlying problems? Oh I also forgot to mention that when the bike starts cutting out the fuel injection light comes on, but it does not stay on, as soon as i turn it off and on and allow the fueld pump to prime the lines several times the light goes off. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to KF.
So have you checked and proved that the pump is meeting the pressures per your manual?

Read up in the manuals section. There is the 05 race manual in there, and manuals for the 03 and 04. https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...ad.php?t=19450

Ok, so I think I figured it out. I think its a vapor lock situation because today it happened and I immediately opened the gas tank and heard a big woosh of air. So to fix this I have been stopping every so often to open the tank and let the air get in. I have one of those tank cap decoration things on there that Im gonna take off. So now that I have this fixed another problem arose. Now the bikke will just stop running every so often. And when I turn the bike on and off the fueld pump will not prime. I have to leave it set for several minutes before it will prime. I think that there is one of two reasons for this 1: There is an electrical short circuit somewhere due to the fact that the rretard that owned it before me hacked into wires to put LED's all over the damn thing. 2: My power commander sits under my real cowl directly above my exhaust which goes through my undertail compartment, so once the bike gets hot, the exhaust gets hot, and therefore my power commander gets to hot to function and shuts down thereby shutting down my ECU.....am I on track or way off?

yes, try and relocate that commander since it gets really hot back there. Now that you mention it, others have had that damage the commander.

Are you still running the stock exhaust and actuator?

Either relocate it or wrap the midpipe with header wrap. Get some insulation to pu between the PCIII & ECU but do not wrap or cover them because they need to cool.

If you're having fuel issues like hessitating, stumbling etc, try RXP fuel additive from most Auto Parts stores like Autozone. The fuels with Ethanol attracts moisture from the air and it settles in the bottom of the tank getting sucked into the pump which then is fed to the injectors which is what causes problems. The smaller the engine, the bigger the problems due to fuel quality.

You could have a wire shorting. Check all the places he hooked up the lights and make sure there aren't any bare wires touching the frame, engine or other bare wires. Make sure you grounds are good, clean and tight.
