'07 ex 250 ninja- problems with choke and idle at startup
i havent been able to ride my bike hardly at all since i bought it for several reasons but the main one is that whenever i start it i'm not able to turn the choke off. it will rev really high and then drop really low and if i try to adjust the choke off slowly, even after its warm, it will die. i took it to the dealership and they said it was because it didnt have fuel stabilizer, but when i got it back i added stabilizer and it is still doing this. has anyone else had or heard of this with this model bike? if so advice on how to fix it or what to do is greatly appreciated. Jules

Yeah, a few of us know of the 250R
Sounds like the dealer is playing you as a fool. The use of Stabilizer would not have prevented this problem. The problem is in your carburettor, not the gas. I would guess it is running too lean, but that is only my opinion.
Take it back to the dealer and make them FIX your problem. It should be under warranty still, right?

I am assuming you bought the bike recently therefore fuel stabilizer is not your problem. You only need fuel stabilizer if you leave fuel in the tank for months at a time, like in winter storage. If you want to test it tho, just siphon your old gas out and put new in. Then take it to the dealer and get it fixed. If they are still beating around the bush call Kawasaki, they will take care of the dealer for you.

I've had (several) similar experiences over the years with gas going bad and the bike doing the same erratic thing you describe. However, mine always seems to happen when I'm riding through town and the people in their cars give me that incredulous look and begin to laugh.
(Yeah, do the mental picture.... The bike goes "Waaaa...Bohhhhhh.....Waaaaa.....Bohhhhhhh" and I feel like a total idiot because I can't do anything to immediately stop it!!!)
