Default new rider license timing

Hey everybody. I was thinking about getting my license this summer so I can have a bike to ride around up at school, short distances, good gas mileage, and the parking is better i figured why not? I'll be 19 this summer and I was wondering if anyone knew any specifics about the Virginia Law. I know if you're under 19 you have to hold a leaner's for 9 months. If I get my learners before July, will I still have to wait 9 months before I can ride by myself, or will I automatically be eligible for a license when I turn 19. I plan to taking the Basic course anyways but was just wondering if I should wait until after I turn 19. Thanks in advance for the help.

And I apologize if this isn't in the right place

Hmmm one week you can get you permit here in Washington and the next week you can take the drivers test and you're golden. I wonder why they don't make it the same in all the states. Oh and welcome to the site. P.S. take a look in my sig, I mean if you want to have fun in the city and off road. I'm just saying.[8D]

I'm in Virginia, in FT lee and my recommendation , wait until july , but while u r waiting take the MSF Basic course, then when u turn 19 apply for the license.

depend where u are it can take you 1 or 2 month in the list.

I have the MSF manual and the VA motorcycle manual too
if you need a copy shoot me an email

Welcome to KF

Thanks guys, That was what I was planning on doing anyways. and as nice as a bike as that looks, I think I'll probably pick up a new ninja, it's in my price range and most of my riding will be around campus/back and forth to the apartment.

Note to self: make attachment for plywood and six packs on bike. I knew I was going to school to be an engineer for a reason!
