OCALA -- An Orlando man clocked at 185 mph on a motorcycle on Interstate 75 on Wednesday is in a local hospital after troopers say he crashed the bike, fled and was eventually caught, according to Florida Highway Patrol officials.
Local troopers say Davall Montrell Pinkelton was taken to Munroe Regional Medical Center with serious injuries to his left arm. Officials say the 26-year-old is expected to have surgery on his arm and will be transported to the Marion County Jail.
Pinkelton will be charged with reckless driving, resisting without violence, habitual traffic offender, felony fleeing and eluding and no motorcycle endorsement.
The 2009 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle that he was riding sustained an estimated $1,000 in damages, and was impounded by troopers.
Sumter County troopers say close to 10 a.m., Trooper Miguel Cendan clocked the motorcycle doing 185 mph in a 70 mph zone northbound on I-75 by Mile Marker 332. Officials attempted to stop the speeding motorcyclist, but were unsuccessful.
Sumter officials spotted the motorcyclist exiting I- 75 by State Road 200 heading east.
With speeds of up to 100 mph Sumter officials said the man kept going before crashing the high-end motorcycle into the northeast corner curb at the intersection of SR 200 and Southwest 20th Court.
Pinkelton was ejected from the motorcycle. Apparently unfazed by the crash, the man fled and was eventually caught by law enforcement officials.
No law enforcement officials were injured during the chase. More charges may be pending, officials say.

And another
A young female motorcycle passenger was killed Monday in an intersection collision on U.S. Route 22/State Route 3 when the driver of a vehicle pulling a travel trailer allegedly didn’t yield at a stop sign to the approaching motorcycle.
The name of the child passenger was not immediately released pending notification of family.
Operating the 2008 GMC truck pulling a fifth-wheel travel trailer was 63-year-old Garold A. Schudel of Centerville. He was headed northbound on George Road. Meanwhile, 63-year-old William Glass Jr. of Maineville was driving westbound on U.S. Route 22/State Route 3 on a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
The initial investigation “reveals Mr. Schudel failed to yield from a stop sign pulling into the path of the westbound motorcycle,” according to a news release by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Glass tried to avoid a collision between his motorcycle and the travel trailer, the patrol said. He braked and then laid the bike on the road before the motorcycle struck the travel trailer, said the highway patrol.
Glass and his girl passenger originally were transported by life squad to Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington. Both were then flown by helicopter to Cincinnati area hospitals. The girl was pronounced dead at Children’s Hospital.
In its release, the patrol said the condition of Glass, a patient at University Hospital, was not known.
Both motorcycle riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, the patrol said.
Schudel and two passengers in the truck were not injured.
The 12:30 p.m. Monday crash remains under investigation.
The intersection is eight miles west of Wilmington and about one-half mile east of the Warren County line.

Air Force just lost another rider...individual was 23, had the bike for 4 months, first bike and it was a ZX6R, just been through BRC and not the AMC sportbike class...hit a guard rail...helmet went 60 feet, body went 95 feet, and the bike went over 1000 feet...speed and lack of experience were major factors...
