getting hot
Hello all, I am new to this website, and I have a few questions about my 95 vulcan 750 that overheats, so here's the story. I was driving aroung my yard slowly because it wasn't registered yet and I noticed it was getting hot. the temp gauge slow climbed into the red zone and the fan hadnt come on yet. when I shut it off I could hear water bubbling, it was definately hot! so, I grounded out the temp sensor in the radiator and the fan didnt come on, then I put power directly to the fan and it worked. All the fuses are good and now I am stumped. I have no idea what else to check, If anyone has any ideas please help me. thanks a lot--cheesy

RE: getting hot
Thermostat or relay. Follow he wires back from the fan and find it. Should be on the radiator and when it gets hot enough it will close and send power to the fan once the temp drops it opens and cuts power. Jump those wires and see if that turns on your fan. Also try to manualy spin your fan to make sure the thing is not froze.

RE: getting hot
I hooked the fan up to a car battery and it spun, so the fan isnt locked up. The thermostat isnt stuck shut because I got the opportunity to ride it on the street and it didnt over heat. like I said earlier, if I let it idle a lot, it gets very hot but the fan still wont come on. Does anyone know where the relay that controls the fan is located. thanks a lot

RE: getting hot
Your bike does not over heat on the highway do to the amount of air flowing over the radiator, when idling there is no air of course.
See the picture below it shows you where the relay switch that turns on the fan is located. It is part #27010.
Sorry the way I explained it before is how my bike is and yours is very different. The information came from www.ronayers.com. OEM parts online microfiche, just selct your bike and it will give you a list of all the parts.
Hope this helps, Mike
