Does size matter?
I'm thinking about getting a new Ninja 650R (flippin SWEET bike). My "problem" is this: I'm 6'2 and about 270 lbs; not fat by any means, just big. I think it's hilarious to see a guy (or a girl) on a bike who looks like they just bought it from a toy store. I don't want to be one of those people. I don't doubt that the bike can handle my weight, but would I look "too big" for it? I was looking at some of the other super sport X bikes, but they're a little out of my price range. Any advice would be great. Thanks! [&o]
hey bro first things first welcome to the forums and second i am 6'1" and weigh in around 270 myself and i ride an 05 636 and imo i think the size is just fine. still has aenough power to haul *** if need be and still can bring the front up in 3rd
Try this: Have someone take some pics of you "riding" one at the dealership... Go home, and see if you'd laugh at yourself...
My guess is no... I'm told the new 650 is relatively narrow (which is GOOD), but only you can be the real judge. And the fact that it's a twin gives it a nice low growl that you won't get on a 4 banger. All personal taste man. Good luck!

I was trying to avoid the dealership right now...I can't afford a bike at this point (just a few more months, baby!), and I don't feel like getting attacked by the vultures of the dealerships. That, and I don't want to go out of the dealership empty handed! I guess I'll have to, though.
My brother has a ninja 250 and the consensus was that I'm too big for it...he now has a 600 (not a ninja, I forget exactly what kinda kawasaki) and it feels just right to me. He said that the 650R is a LITTLE smaller than his 600 (obviously not in cc's). Just have to test it out, I suppose. Thanks for the welcome, frogger! Also the info, Gerg!

Okay, I found out my brother's bike is a 1994 Ninja ZX 600E, and it's a perfect size for me. So if the Ninja 650R is just a little smaller, and Hoe is 6'3 and he didn't look silly on it, I suppose I have my answer! I'll still check it out, but I think I'm convinced. Thanks for all your help! You guys'll know when I have the bike!

Like mentioned - you should go sit on one, have someone either take a pic or tell you what they think. I know what you mean about not wanting to leave empty handed - that is exactly why I haven't gone to check one out!!
Heh, I'm a small guy and I was going to get the 650R, but I was like... mmm... no. I went with the 06' 636 instead. I love it, and probably look like a kid riding it... all 5'7" of me. Like others have said above me, personal taste. Sit on one, have your buddy take a picture see what you look like. If you want to get a good deal you're going to have to swagger with the dealerships eventually. I called 3 different dealerships and had them at each other's throats trying to get me the lowest price for my 636, I went with the lowest bidder.
