Want to shout out to all the other 600 zzr riders, Just got my new 600 zzr 3 days ago and can't wait to get this break in period behind me. I did put on the Heli Bars this evening and it feels better for me. Live in the Tx hill country and there are so many roads to discover.

After spending all day on the internet checking out this ZZR600 that you speak of, I've decided that it's what I want. I'll be getting one as soon as I get home (which will be sometime next year). My wife will be happy, because now I don't have to tell her I'm spending $9k on a new bike. I like the ZZR. I am from Atlanta, and I used to hang out at little 5 points all the time. When I get back home, I'll have to head over there one Thursday night that I have a 4 day weekend.

I have a ticking and not sure what to think of it. At first I thought maybe the dealer put regular gas in it prior to picking it up but I used premium for the second tank. I have seen comments anything from cam chain tensioner to bad valves. It is noticeable when I am accelerating from around 3500-4000 rpm and then I don't notice it. At these rpm's I realize engine is under a load. Or maybe it is just the nature of the beast.

I think the ticking type sound you are describing is just the sound it makes when a greater volume of air is forced down the intake scoop. It doesn't make that noise at idle does it? Or after say you open the throttle aggressively and it makes that sound then you roll off the throttle to a cruising speed you don't hear it anymore do you? I was puzzled at first too.Nature of the beast like you said I'm sure.
I thought the same thing at first. It could be carb butterfly valves opening up.
Don't worry if it's the same sound mine makes it's normal.
Learn to think of the sound as a "fun indicator"
