Right on! Congrats... Hope you like it as much as I do...

Right now I'm stuck in London w/o my bike for 6 weeks... but I'm thinking of renting one while I'm out here... 195 pounds for the weekend though, kind of steep. Just might be worth it though.
DO IT!!!!! And take a camera with you, I bet you'd get some awesome pics!
Yeah, do it!! You'll be too busy enjoying the riding to spend any time in the pub so you'll save at least that much!!! It'd be like riding for free!!!

Heh, I hadn't thought about it that way... Makes it all a bit cheaper.

Best rate I could find is 195 pounds for the weekend, including unlimited miles, insurance, etc, etc, etc. I was bad... and left my helmet/coat/etc at home because of lack of space, but I can rent each "item" for 2 pounds a day.

So, let's see... Jacket/Pants/Gloves/Helmet/Tank Bag (just so I don't have to wear a backpack) = 5 items x 2 pounds each = 10 pounds a day x 4 days (Fri-Mon) = 40 pounds + 195 pounds = 235 pounds.

Average pint at the local pub is 2 pounds... so 235 pounds would buy me 117.5 pints of beer. Average 1 pint per hour for 4 days and I'm pretty close to break even... hehe

Now just a matter of making it NOT RAIN!

That has got to be one of the best reasonings I have ever seen!!!! In all honesty - this is just something that you have to do! If I were you, I'd do it in an instant! There is no way I could go 6 weeks without biking (I know, I know, this winter is going to be hard as hell to get through!) But at least I can look forward to visiting the Barber Motorcycle Museum in Feb or March!

Here's another way to look at it - approx 59 pounds per day of pure enjoyment! What would you be renting for a bike?

What's totally bogus is I can't officially ride it till Monday when I take the permit test. Been riding it in the neighborhood.
It seems that 3rd thru 5th or is it 6th gear, the speed didn't increase much at 4000 rpms in each gear. How many rpms would 65 mph produce?

Yeah, the break in period is really hard... All I can say is that once it's over, you'll be glad you were good (or at least mostly-good) and you'll forget all about it. You can't really break 55mph or so without going over 4krpm... and highway driving isn't a good idea during break-in. Just find some back roads with no traffic nearby that you can use to take it through you're allowed rpm range for now... Keep that needle moving, don't just sit at one speed for long periods of time... Hard accel and hard decel within your RPM range... Don't lug it.. Same goes for when you can take her up to 6krpm... Don't just hop on the highway and hold it there... bad mojo.

I took your advice on getting on it alittle harder than I was up to 4k. Keep in mind I'm still restricted to my neighborhood till Monday.
It was 57 degrees out when I rode it, but it still showed potential of becoming an intense machine. Babbling now,
JB

I dont have a website in order to post a picture of my bike. As for the Zx6r yeah i can hang with them easily. Busted a couple of 750 as well but its not the bike its the rider. Going to go challange the gap sunday hope i dont make it to the tree of shame. As for the 750s i can get most of them cause I am used to chasing my best friend on his GSXR 1000 he eats me up in the straights but I pay him back in the curves lots of fun. Stay safe everyone.
