how do you do a stoppie???
The only stoppie/endo/whatever I did was not intentional, and I simply do not like the feeling and will never try to do it for fun. I was doing 30 on a city street with right-of-way for blocks. There were several cross streets, all of which have stop signs. Well, a minivan pulls up on a cross street... driver looks right at me - Im about 250 feet away, looks up the block, looks right at me again - I am 150 feet away, looks up the bloc the other way again... looks right at me a third time - I am probably 30 to 50 feet away, and he looks up the block the other way yet again... THEN he pulls out. I pounded the brakes just a little too hard (ie - pre weight-transfer). The front tire grabbed the road and up came the *** end... I stopped maybe 6 inches from the side of the van, and I was looking DOWN into the back passengers window, at the bottom of the back seat. *** end comes crashing down HARD, and I tore *** after the guy in the van, pulled in front of him and got him stopped. I gave him a bitch session he will never forget. This was on my 93 zx7 in 94 I think. What a maroon. I thought for sure when the back end came back down that I had broken something... but a full inspection yielded no problems.
They are a lot more fun when you do them on purpose...and not on the streets. The only time I do anything is in a closed off lot anyway. Endos aren't for everyone, I'm not real good with them, might roll one 20 feet on a good day! I just don't like the fact that if I go too far there is no coming back and I am going down!! At least on a wheelie, if I go too far back, I can tap the rear brake and bring it back down!
dude i have only been riding 6 months and i learned to do one on my 10. here is how i learned i was riding with this dude that does wheelies and stuff and he pulled to a light and did an endo i was like how did u do that and he said follow me and when i grab the brake u do it to and it worked i got the back tire up 4 feet just dont do it when it is cold or on rocks u will slide i tried already . just start pulling to lights at 15 to 20 mile per hour and grabbing the brake and u will do a stoppy i thought they were hard till i did it now i do it at all the lights LOL

...now i do it at all the lights LOL
...now i do it at all the lights LOL
all i got to say to that is its on the rider and what he chooses to do and how he wants to ride i aint nobodys mom and i dont give advice on how to ride because if u have a bike ur grown enough to make ur own desicions and for this thread i was just answering question on doing a stoppy and how easy it is todo and oh ya dont try it on painted lines on the street u might slide if ur tires arnt sticky. ride the way u want and as hard as u want when u want!
okay something people are missing is that you really need to get the forks compressed all the way before you go for broke on the front brake. if you just grab a **** load of brake lever you are going to lock up the front and lose thhe front end. i learned endos by going about 40mph or so and appling the brakes in a gradual manner. as you slow down increase brake pressure until the forks are compressed a bit. then just keep adding pressure until the rear end gets light. at first it might only come up at the very end when you stop. try to bring it up a couple inches and ride to a stop. as you get comfortable, try to get the forks compresses earlier and bring it up sooner. as the rear end gets higher and higher, make sure your arms are tense and staight and make sure you are centered. if you are off center the rear end will swing to the left or right. also it's important to release the front break alittle as the rear end gets higher. when i hoist one way up i'm barely touching the front brakes. moredragging them to keep some friction between the plates. for those ofyou who are scared to try an endo, all i can say is it never hurts to be better at braking. i knowmy braking skills have helped to save my hide a couple of times.hope this might help some of you. just remember to take it slow. there is no rear break to save you if you go over the balance point.
and i agree doing an endo at stop signs of intersections is dumb. usually there is a ton of grease on the road which makes keeping the front end from locking up pretty hard. and landing on your head with the bike on top of you hurts enough, let alone adding the risk of passing cars hitting you is just dumb. i ride lots of wheelies and endos but there is a place and time. and BIG V, having a bike doesn't make you a grown up, it just means you have some extra cash or good credit.
i always locked my knees to the tank so i could keep the bike headed in the right direction while inverted. I haven't gone 90 degrees or anything, but i've rolled out some long ones. also...as odd as this sounds...a steering dampener ended up helping a little...i've noticed that my old gixxer staid much straighter than my zx6rr. Another good reason to lock yer knees to the tank (squeesze the tank with your knees) is that on the way down...you can rack the HELL out of your ***** if you're too close to the tank.
