Then again- objectively, we are only hearing one side of the story and we are unaware of the circumstances/area that may be considered a factor .. . . . .

 

My father in law got a ticket for disorderly conduct because he was waiting for a parking spot and some guy flew right in after the person left and my father in law said " i was waiting for that spot" the guy said too bad go find another" and all my inlaw said was " F**k you" and it turned out that the guy was a off duty cop, and was eating at this place and there were some of his on duty friends in side and gave him a ticket.... Took it to court, and it got thrown out because the judge knew that the cop was an *******. So you guys and girlsthat are on this board that are into law enforcement and arnt dicks.... this doesnt apply. But for the most part i feel cops think they are above the law and can do anything they want. My saying about cops is....."They are always there whendont need them, and never there when you really do need them" thats just how it is....

Your best friend is also a Rookie...right? Yeah my point exactly. I can tell you that even when I was a rookie I wouldn't have done anything like that. Sounds like someone is a Rookie or just maybe a jerk. I've seen other cops be jerks...and senior to me or not I asked to speak with them privately and told them they were outta line and I've had people written up for it to. Just because you enforce the law doesn't give you the right to abuse it by bending it to fit your mood. I'm always fair to people because that is how I would want to be treated if I were in their shoes. Granted that not all cops think that way but I've been put into the "COP" category now so I guess maybe I should act like the jerks...but I won't because that's not who I am. But I don't have to help someone who puts me in that category.

I was gonna say the same thing DG - the guy is a newbie (read: under 3 years)... he wont last long. Not like that. Good way to get in trouble for civil rights violations & no PC stops.

btw - I noticed my original questions regarding conduct were never answered. Cops don't just up and draw their weapons for giggles. There was probably a reason, which has been ommitted from this story.

 

Unfortunately I've seen rookies...(I agree about the 3 year rule...hell I still learn stuff all the time for that matter)...get the "BY GOD'S" and do some really ignorant things. They get excited easily and the power gets to their head....SOME not ALL. Of course if I said ALL I would be making a broad generalization like some other people and that would make me just as bad. Saying all cops are bad is like saying all people are stupid......I've seen some pretty smart people in my time...and honestly there are varying degrees of stupidity.....trust me I've seen them ALL...and really I can't be mad at stupid people ....they keep me employed.

srobak....I agree....I've never pulled my weapon for giggles...the police department would frown upon it...PLUS......there is too much risk involved...too much liability....everytime I pull it I intend to use it ifforced to....its not for show...its not a game its a f'n gun! Its not a toy, its not for intimidation, it isfor the protection of the public, my fellow officers and myself. In that order. Have I pulled my gun on people...of course I have, did I have to use it.....Thank God no....would I have used it if I needed to....absolutely.
