Not that I don't already have a full face helmet, but I've never heard of anyone getting pulled over just because their eyes weren't covered.

Yea this seems a little fishy, it would be nice if some of the cops on here would comment on this. You never know tho this cop could have just come from a house where the guy beat and murdered his wife and three kids, and he just took his anger out on you (not that this makes it right, but you never know what is going on in the next guys life). I know three cops here in Billings and they are all pretty cool, they have a tough thankless job.And for the most part I feel they are just honest hard working people trying to make ends meet like the rest of us.

Officer needs probable cause to initiate a traffic stop. He can't stop you for giggles. If protective eyeware required is the law in FL, then if he saw you without it - that would be PC for a stop.

However - the whole gun drawn, felony stop routine for a simple driving infraction is waaaay overkill - if that is all there it to the story. Did you give him lip? Did you give any body language that might make him think you were a threat? If the answer is no - then yes, I would fight it, or at the very least file a complaint with the department regarding improper procedure and intimidation tactics.

TWO YEARS AGO AT BIKETOBERFEST I GOT PULLED OVER AND IT WAS FOR HAVING MY GLASSES ON MY FOREHEAD. WHAT THE COP DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WAS A LIGHT RAIN WAS CAUSING WATER TO BE THROWN UP OFF THE ROAD AND HAD SMEARED MY GLASSES. HE LET GO BUT OF COURSE NOT WITH OUT A COMMENT ( THEY DON'T DO YOU MUCH GOOD ON YOUR FOREHEAD). SO I CLEANED THEM OFF AND WENT ABOUT 2 MILES DOWN THE BEACH TO THE HOTEL. I FEEL LUCKY AFTER THE WAY YOU WERE TREATED!!!

 

I know that both of my lenses for my helmet say not shatter resistant. Maybe that is there reasoning for wearing eye protection even with full face helmet.

I need to look into my local laws tosee howthis oneis here.

 

I was wearing a helmet but my shield was up. And also iam a little t'd off about the ticket but iam more pissed on the way he did it. He did not have to say "Hey you look like your lic. is suspended." That was not called for. Making me lay face down on the pavement and calling for back up thinking iam going to take off and i am off the bike. I think he could have handled it differently. Since is was over some shades. And also ninjabike i did check as well and it is a law. Wow some of the laws they come up with. Your not req. to wear a helmet or protective cloths but you get pulled for shades. If thats is the case they might as well make FL. wear u have to wear a helmet.
