Getting Comfyy
I know what you mean about the wind on a bike. I am 105lbs and when a good one hits you better hold on. I tend to use both front and rear brakes. It is a lot better that way. When you use the rear brake just take it easy don't stomp on it. It's kind of like a car. The same thing applies to the front brake don't get nurvouse and just take your time. Trust me when you brake too fast you may drop your bike. I did it once in the middle of an intersection and I learned fast how to fix the problem.

You know it's funny, whenever I took my MSF class they never really mentioned anything about the whole braking deal....or maybe that was the part of the class that I missed. I normally used both the back brake and the front brake...but I guess I"m just using too much back brake. It worries me, I don't have a problem with stopping and I don't really get nervous or anything, but I just noticed this the other day. Like I said I was told to just start using just the front brake...so I thought I'd see what ya'll thought. :-)
Change the peddle to a lower angle to make it harder for you to put all your power to it then you will have less chance of rear wheel lock up. A light rear brake application before a turn helps to settle the bike and get it ready for more front application. Your brakes are not on/off switches you have to be smooth with the input you apply to them not sudden and rough. Pratice by your self on a lone road and get to know them well they are your best friend. On the race track there are people that dont like the rear cause they cant manage it well but ask a real pro racer ( Mick Doohan ) five time 500GP world champion even devloped a thumb brake when his right ankle was immobile. If the rear brake is no big deal why did Honda design a thumb brake for Him.
Thanks for that advice C10....... I'll have to practice at that. I have been getting alot better at things. I've just so busy lately, I haven't gotten a chance to tell ya'll my progress. I will here soon. DOING WAY BETTER!
Sounds like your having fun which is most important. everything else comes with time and practice. Never leave your comfort area and you'll be good. You can look at a taller windscreen to help get some wind off ya. That does make a big difference[sm=smiley20.gif]
Well like I've said before, I'm getting better at riding. So I've been told! :-) My boyfriend and I went for a ride last night, and I was passenger on my own bike, and he showed me what my bike really can do. I found out the limits of my bike. He has a 04 R1 198hp 109 lbs of tourqe...anyway...enough about Yamaha's :-) So this weekend, I'm going out and going to try a few things, and see if I can't do a little better on my twisties, and just see how things go. :-) I will definitely let ya'll know how things go
