I still hear everything around me with. It's just like riding around in your car with the windows up. I hear horns honking, sirens, dogs barking. I do agree with the music part. I hear a good song and I tend to ride faster. LOL

Seriously, even if you have a quiet helmet, an Arai, Shoei, etc. try wearing earplugs. You will amazed how better it sounds. I find it easier to tell what gear I'm in because I can hear the exhaust note, not wind. And my Muzzy meg is damn loud.

Like I said in my earlier post, I never ride without them.

Not illegal in Florida. I ride with 2 deputys all the time and they said there is nothing wrong with it.
You may want to check with your state. Check withe A.M.A. They have listings on the state laws.

 

In town I dont use any. On longer runs I do. Arai RX-7 Corsair helmets have a lot of wind noise.

 

for those who think its dagerous to ride with ear plugs, you really need to try it out. Wind noise is very deceiving when riding, I have to ride with all of my vents open 100+ degree weather so I don't care what helmet you have, it will be noisy. with the ear plugs, it actually lets you hear the more important sounds that you should be listening to and not just wind noise. I ride 45 miles to work each way, highway miles at that! I didn't think that plugs were that great till I tried them going home one night. Wow, what a difference they made. I didn't have a headache from the wind noise when I got home, and I actually heard more of whats going on around me then without them!! Even around town I was sceptical about wearing them, but it tunes out the un necessary noise. Like Kevys Toy said, its like driving with your windows up.
