has anybody tried muzzys big bore kit? i have to re-ring my motor and I thought I might give it a try if it was any good.

 

This is just my opinion.
If you've had your engine apart, you'll see that the walls between the cylinders are not exactly "thick." (Nothing like an old 1100GS Suzuki...) I considered the big bore kit for a couple weeks, until I weighed the reliability factor, and asked myself the "do I really want to do this?" question. I'm not saying you shouldn't.After replacing a head gasket on a stock motor, though, I felt like there would barely be enough cylinder wall left with the big bore kit.
If you want to spend that money, I'd find another project. However, to answer your question, I haven't heard of any real problems withit. I think there was an article in Motorcyclist back in '94 or '95where they had done it. They might be a resource.

 

I HAVE A 02 ZX9 I BORE IT OUT TO A 973 AND I LOVE IT I HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT I ADD MUZZY FANS .[sm=goodidea.gif]AND LOVE IT. NOW IM GOING EVEN MORE BIGGER I HAVE A 04 ZX10 MOTOR THAT IM GETTING HEAD WORK AND BORE WORK TO PUT IN IT.

 

Have you contacted Zlock racing? I know those boys played with bore kits on the 7's, not sure on any 9's.

 

i looked up glock racing, they have some pretty cool stuff for both my bikes. the big bore kit is about $700 cheaper than the muzzys. its not as big but still a pretty good deal.

yaeh thanks, thats where i looked. the kit is $1200. muzzys is $1900 but it is a little bigger. zlocks is only 950cc where muzzys is 988cc.
