TAIL OF THE DRAGON, NC
JUST WONDERED IF ANYONE HAS DRIVEN THE TAIL OF THE DRAGON. WE ARE TAKING A TRIP OUT THERE THIS SUMMER.

Definitely worth the trip. There's a new hotel down there, two wheel something, I forget the name. All I can say is Gear, Gear, Gear!!!! Please wear all your gear. Regardless of skill, the Dragon is dangerous. Many places don't have guard rails; you can go off the side of the mountain. There have been reports of oil and/or nails in the corners, placed there on purpose. It's a great road, just be careful and don't ride outside your limits. There will always be someone faster. Keep your own pace.
Have fun!

my dad has ridden that on a 1978 honda cb750k and enjoyed it. so I may just have to go for a ride down there when my family goes up there next month. nothing crazy just me and my dad going for a little cruise. with me on my 03 6rr and my dad on his 05 roadstar.

gotrice, if you like twisty roads then you will love this place. just got back from there this weekend, it was my second trip. Also went down to Blood Mountain GA about 2 hours south of there. Every road down there was a good twisty one. Make sure you also hit the Cherehala skyway in Robbinsville about 18 miles south of the gap. The loop is outlined the the tail of the dragon website. Please wear all your gear and watch your turn lines. I tossed my 03 R1 on Bld Mtn. with too much speed and a really bad line. So now I am looking for another bike, possible 6r.
